This discarded video was trashed and we tried to save this beautiful Bolivian interpretation of the song EL CONDOR PASA played by this Indian group. The song was created in 1913 by a Peruvian composer. The condor is one of the largest Andean flying birds that can reach wingspan of 10.5 feet. From beak to tail the body is about 4 feet long and they can weigh up to 33 pounds. The flutes are very typical of this kind of music. The Bolivian Indian built the small 10 strings instrument called the CHARANGO from the shell of an armadillo. Professional charangos are made of wooden bodies in order to preserve the armadillos. I was told that the lake is called TITICACA. It is the worlds largest navigable lake which borders Bolivia and Peru. It was venerated by the ancient Incas who ruled throughout South America from the 13th to the mid-16th centuries. We bring this video so that future generations preserve this beautiful music. The lake sits at 12500 feet above sea level. Is like being at the top of the world.
