The Big Boy Show conta algumas dessas histórias. Com foco em seu trabalho nas rádios e no Baile da Pesada, relembra para uns e apresenta para outros a criatividade eo dinamismo de um personagem que viveu à frente de seu tempo. Big Boy was a "Heavy" disc-jockey. He revolutionized the radio airwaves in the late 60's in Brazil, broadcasting all the new pop stuff releasing it simultaneously with Europe and USA(which had never happened before in South America). He also created the "Baile da Pesada"(Heavy Ball) that was the seed of brazilian Funk. He died at 33 but despite of that he became a spokesman of an entire generation of pop music fans. In the 70's he wrote about this music in major newspapers and magazines, he also had the "film clips" in Globo TV where he exposed all of his diggings and discoveries from the wolrd of music. 2:36 / 337552 viewI got an email asking about the pulling power of a single Big Boy (the video I already have here shows it double-headed). Here's a new video showing a single Big Boy hauling its auxiliary tender and 53 heavy scale freight cars. It's limited not by weight but by the size of my layout -- the Big Boy is pretty much chasing its own caboose. If I had the room, it could easily haul a hundred cars; as it is, the train in this video is more than one-half scale mile long! Please visit my web site - www.toytrains1.com - to see lots more videos of model (and real) trains in action! A NEW VIDEO OF THE BIG BOY HAS BEEN SHOT IN TRUE HD 1080p! See www.youtube.com

The focuses are his work at the radios and the balls he promoted, it's for those who want to recollect a memory of him as well it is to introduce this essential character to the young generations that never heard about this man that revolutionized some social behavior in Brazil.

2:39 / 116544 view4014 on display at the LA county fairgrounds in Pomona, CA. According to several of the men responsible for the preservation of this engine & the others, they were planning on doing some cosmetic work on 14; new paint, & new boiler jacketing to get it ready for September when the LA fair would take place. They told me that restoring it to operating condition would be next to impossible due to the outrageously high costs (restoration, maintainence, fuel, insurance, getting a crew to operate it, etc.) and even when it was running during the 1940's and '50s that it was extremely hard on the tracks and cost UP some extra track maintenance. It's tremendous length was also a setback since it was a pain for UP to deal with getting it to fit on turntables, and navigating safely around curves and wyes. And lastly, it would have to be changed to burn oil, which would be quite difficult since historically only one BB (4005) was briefly converted to oil but it was uneconomical and too difficult to fire properly. It had some small rust marks on the exterior, but other then that it seemed to be in pretty good shape, not falling apart or anything seriously wrong. It's bell and whistle are operable from a powerful air compressor which can be turned on with a valve near the engineer's seat. The cab is always locked due to the theft of gauges and equipment from inside.
